Happy Chinese New Year!
Today begins the Year of the Rabbit, which the Chinese believe will bring calmer times as opposed to last year, which was the year of the Tiger. Starting today, there is a fifteen day celebration, and we believe any good celebration deserves a better drink.
Just so happens that we found a Chinese beer, Tsingtao, to crack open today if you are lager kind of mood. No, it’s not an in your face IPA that cult beer drinkers love, but in the spirit of the benevolent Rabbit, maybe it’s time to branch out, eh? You know you have some old fortune cookies in your silverware drawer (next to the chopsticks), just for such an occasion.
If beer isn’t your thing, maybe a China Clipper Cocktail? Yellow gin, vermouth, grapefruit and orange bitters, you’ll be digging out your red and gold and looking for your kung fu movies. Or at least, that’s what happened to us. Gotta love Bruce Lee.
And if you are a Rabbit and in the mood to celebrate YOUR year? May we suggest a Bunny Bonanza… tequila (not very Chinese, but what the heck) applejack, lemon juice. After a couple of those you just might find that bunny suit you have in the back of your closet. Did we say that?
Happy New Year!
